Government Sadiq Egerton College Bahwalpur is one of the prestigious and historical college in Asia. It was established in 1886 for intermediate classes. BA classes were started and in 1927 the teaching of science subjects was started. In 1955 the Punjab University allowed the teaching of BSc classes in SE College Bahawalpur. In 1986 SE college celebrated 100 year anniversary of its foundation in which numerous number of its ex-students from all over the Pakistan abroad participated and many other honorable dignitaries from all walks of life also graced the ceremony with thier presence.
SE College Bahawalpur has the honor of producing many such students who later remarked on their names as great poets, educationists, scholars, politicians, players, and civil and military officers. Besides that many history making personalities served this college in the capacities of Principals and teachers. Some of the Prominent name are Mr Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi, Mr Munir Niazi, Mr Syed Khalid Akhtar, Mr Dilshad Kalanchvi, in his old students there have been Mr Motti Ullah, Mr shoab suddal Es IG Punjab, Mr MN jahan. in 1991 this college started M.Sc Botany classes.
In 1999 Master Classes in Statistics were initiated. In the yeat 2005 the Government of Punjab granted permission for the initiation of various other students for the Post Graduate Studies. At present the following disciplines are being taught at post graduate levels. * Botany * Chemistry * Physics * Economics * English * Educaiton * Urdu * Islamiat * Statistics * Geography * Political science In the year 2010, the Government of the Punjab launched 4 years BS programs in semester and co education system in 25 colleges of Punjab. SE College is among the top colleges where BS programs are running quite successfully passed out with their postgraduate degrees in respective disciplines.
